Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

When we encounter life challenges, our whole being is impacted - our mind, heart, soul, and body.  Stressful life events, significant  experiences, and relationship concerns can have an impact and sometimes maybe even leave us at a loss for words. Yet, the body knows the story and is a potential route for healing. Sensorimotor psychotherapy is an approach to therapy that integrates mindful attention to the body into the process of talk-therapy. It was developed by drawing upon the knowledge and wisdom of somatic therapies, neuroscience, attachment theory, cognitive approaches, and the Hakomi method. The body holds important information that is often outside of our conscious awareness and the language centers of our brains. I have pursued training with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute

If we work together and agree to implement sensorimotor approaches into our work, I will gradually and increasingly help you learn to tune in to your body. Through this process, you will gain increasing insight into yourself, and we will use this insight to help you implement important changes for personal growth.
